今出川大宮界隈は古今西陣の中心地として繁栄し、
江戸時代中期頃（西陣の黄金期）より
生糸問屋・織物問屋が軒を並べ、日々千両に値する生糸や織物を
商ったことから「千両ヶ辻」と呼ばれていました。
加えて２０１７年は西陣と呼ばれて５５０年の大きな節目を迎えます。
活気に満ちあふれた当時の雰囲気を再現すべく、
毎年周辺の各町内では晴明神社の大祭にあわせ〔西陣伝統文化祭「千両ヶ辻」〕を開催。
着物で散策が似合う町.西陣。和文化を大切にする町.
千両ヶ辻をテーマに町家の特別公開、文化に触れる企画、
和装品の販売等、楽しいイベントを繰り広げます。

The Imadegawa Omiya neighborhood flourished as the center of Nishijin through all ages, from the silk and textile wholesalers that stood in a row along the streets since the middle of Edo Period (known as the golden age of Nishijin), creating high quality silk and textiles worth of 1000 “Ryo” (old Japanese unit of money), which lead to the origin of the name “Senryogatsuji”.
The year 2017 will be a major milestone for Nishijin as it celebrates 550th anniversary for being called “Nishijin”.
Every year the neighboring towns organize the Nishijin Traditional Cultural Festival, in alongside the grand festival of Seimei shrine, in order to recreate the vibrant atmosphere of the day.
We will have events such as old Machiya houses being specially opened, events to encourage people to experience the culture, markets of kimono items, and etc with the theme of treasuring the Japanese culture of Senryogatsuji.
Nishijin, the town where walks take shape with kimono. How about taking a walk in kimonos and yukatas yourself?
